1 The stade Rennais: During the season 2005-2006, the stade Rennais has finished 7th of the French championship of football. They won 18 times, drew 5 times and lost 15 times. When did they win a match, they get 3 points. When they drawn, they get 1 point. How many points did they get ?

2 Musée Grévin : Twenty adults and ten children went to Grevin museum in Paris to see three hundred wax figures. This museum was created in 1882 ; this museum is open every day. The prices are :
Children (6 to 14) : 10,50 €                             Children (-6) : 9 €                    Adults : 17.50 €
1) How old is the museum ?
2) Calculate the price of the group, but beware, three children are four years old !
3) The group has got five hundred euros. How much does it cost for a group ? How much money is left ?

3 The baguette: Mr.Jean lives in Paris. He get up and he wanted to buy a baguette. He walked down the street La Michodière(A) and then he turned in the street Dix-Décembre(B). Street A is perpendicular to street B. He turned in the street Monsigny(C). Street C is perpendicular to the street B. Street A and street B are ... ? He’s arriving outside the bakery. On the poster he reads : « One croissant costs 50 cents less than one baguette but the chocolate bread costs 70 cents more than one baguette, but he didn’t know how much one baguette cost (one baguette costs x euros). He bought one baguette, two croissants and three chocolates breads and he pays 5 euros. How much does a baguette cost ?

4 Carnac: At Carnac, in Brittany, in a big park, there are menhirs : a menhir is a big and oval rock in a upright position. There are 2800 menhirs in this park. I know, on ten meters we can find 7 menhirs, this is proportional, so, how long is the park ?

5 Tour de France : The final stage of the Tour de France begins in Antony and finishes in Paris. It took him 3 hours and 56 minutes to cycle 130 km. What is the average speed ?

6 VOLUME OF THE PYRAMID OF THE LOUVRE: The Pyramid of the Louvre, in Paris, weighs more than 95 tons. The Pyramid is at 21,65m on a square basis of 35,50m. It is surrounded of a lot pyramids. What is the volume of the Pyramid of the Louvre ?

7 The match Nantes versus Rennes : On Saturday evening, Ben and his friends went to Nantes .They live in Rennes. They are interested in football. Last Saturday they went to the match Rennes versus Nantes. They drove 40 km in 30 minutes. How long did it take them to drive to Nantes ? The stadium can welcome 15000 people. 3/4 of the stadium is full and there are 40 % of people coming from Rennes. How many people are there in the stadium ? How many of them are from Rennes ? How many of them are from Nantes ?

8 VISIT IN PARIS : A tourist decides to walk in Paris. He wants to photograph Paris’s monuments. He leaves « Notre Dame » at 2 p.m and comes back at 10 p.m. The distance between « Notre Dame » and « Sacré Coeur » is 6.52 km
The distance between « Sacré coeur » and « Arc de Triomphe » is 5.01 km
The distance between « Arc de Triomphe » and « Panthéon » is 5.72 km
The distance between « Panthéon » and « Notre Dame » is 1.79 km
How fast did he walk ?

9 The crêpe’s race : The crepes are a Brittany speciality, we can serve them for dessert or as a main dish. The crepes are circular and thin, we cook them on both sides and after we can put many fillings inside. Alain decides to cook twenty seven crepes for him and his two sisters, Maëlle and Julia. We know that Alain eats one crepe in 1 min 30s, Maëlle eats two crepes in 7/3 of a minute, and Julia eats half a crepe in 28/30 of minute. “ How long will each person need to eat its crepes and who will finish first ?”

10 A man in a train ! A young man takes the train from Rennes to Paris at 8:05 in the morning. There are 300km from Rennes to Paris. He arrives in Paris at 10h15 and he visits the Bourbon Palace and Montmartre in 4hours. He takes the train from Paris to Marseille. There are 660km from Paris to Marseille. The train is at 350km/h. The boy plays at pétanque and he takes an other train one hour after. The train is at 370km/h and it arrives 2hours after its departure from Marseille. When does it arrive in Rennes ? How many kilometres does it covered ?

11 Distance between Paris,Bourges and Neuchâtel: If you look at a map of France, you can see that Paris-Bourges-Neuchâtel is a triangle rectangle in Bourges. You know that the distance between Paris and Bourges, is 194km. And between Bourges and Neuchâtel, there is 345km. How far is Bourges from Neuchâtel ? Imagine, you drive 2km a minute ? How long does it take to go to Bourges from Paris. From Bourges to Neuchâtel ? From Neuchâtel to Paris ? Convert in to hour.  

12 La Route du Rhum: We have a very famous sailing race in France called " La route du Rhum ". It goes from Saint-Malo in West Brittany to Pointe à Pitre in Guadeloupe. Phil Sharp took part in the 2006 race. It took him 17 days, 22hours, 36 minutes and 28 seconds to reach Pointe à Pitre, his boat went 8.23knots. A knot equals one nautical mile per hour and one nautical mile equals 1.85km. How far did he sail ?
