Explanation

A digital picture is made of pixels.
The colour of the picture depends on the number of bits used in each pixel.
A bit (BInary digiT) is coded either by 0, or by 1. Thus, there are 2 possibilities.

The width and the height of a picture are written in pixels.
The number of colours in a picture is a power of 2.
The weight of a picture corresponds to the number of bytes used to encode the picture.
1KB = 210 = 1 024 Bytes.
