The Eiffel Tower was constructed for the Universal Exhibition of 1889 to celebrate the 100^th birthday of the French Revolution. It is made of iron, weights about 7 300 tons and is about 300 metres tall. A scale model is made of the Eiffel Tower with the same material at the scale of 1/100.
